Creating a custom watercolor is a collaborative journey between artist and client. Each commission is an original, one-of-a-kind piece of art that captures the essence and character of your special place. Here's how the process works:
Step 1: Initial Consultation
Reach out to discuss your vision! Whether you're interested in a home portrait, interior scene, or landscape, I'd love to hear about what you have in mind.

During our conversation, we'll discuss:
- The subject of your commission (home, interior, landscape)
- Size and format preferences
- Timeline and any special occasions or deadlines
- Your vision for the piece
Step 2: Reference Photos & Details
Once we've agreed to move forward, you'll provide reference photos of your subject. The best commissions come from clear, well-lit photos that capture the details and character you want to preserve.
Photo tips:
- Take photos in natural daylight when possible
- Capture multiple angles and perspectives
- Include any special details you'd like emphasized
- Share any specific color preferences or seasonal considerations
Step 3: Design Fee & Approval
I'll create initial sketches and color studies based on your photos and our discussion. This collaborative stage ensures the final piece will be exactly what you envision. A design fee applies to begin this phase of the work.
Step 4: Creation
Once the design is approved, I'll begin painting your original watercolor. Each piece is hand-painted on quality watercolor paper or wood panel, using professional-grade materials that ensure your artwork will be treasured for generations.
Timeline: Most commissions are completed within 4-6 weeks, depending on size and complexity. Rush orders may be available—please inquire.
Step 5: Delivery
Your finished original watercolor will be carefully packaged and shipped to you, or available for local pickup at my studio in Greenville, SC. Each piece arrives ready for framing and display.
